Army veteran was member of Abundant Life Baptist
David J. Grimm, 92, of Washington, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, in Donnell House, Washington. He had been in declining health.
He was born October 15, 1914, in Meadow Lands, a son of Frederick and Elizabeth Wilson White Grimm.
Mr. Grimm served in the U.S. Army during World War II, with Company A, 612th Tank Destroyer Battalion, in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Service Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with five bronze stars.
Mr. Grimm was a laborer in brick yards and had been an electrician helper at Western Center.
He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, a former member of FOE 687 and Bear's Club, Meadow Lands.
On November 18, 1949, he married Virginia Mae Burke, who survives.
Deceased are two half sisters, Gladys Anderson and Lila Morrison; four brothers, Fred, Clyde, Edward and Bob Grimm; and a sister, Jane.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, with the Rev. George Garancosky officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
