Audrey Pearl Ward, 93, of Washington, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, in her home following a short illness.
She was born in Shinnston, West Virginia, on April 9, 1913, a daughter of Elwood and Blanche Swain Phillips.
She was a home maker and member of Chestnut Ridge Grange for 62 years. Mrs. Ward had been a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church for 75 years having held many positions within the church including teaching Sunday school for seventeen years.
She enjoyed reading her bible.
On June 28, 1934, she married S. Bernard Ward, who died February 18, 1993.
Surviving are three sons, Donald W. ( Donna ) Ward of Poquoson, Virginia, David L. ( Martha ) Ward of Washington, and Douglas E. ( Marilyn ) Ward of Washington, with whom she made her home; a sister Gladys McCanna of Washington; five grandchildren, Tammy ( Allen ) West, Donald ( Cathy ) Ward, David ( Lori ) Ward, Jr., Robert and Daniel Ward; five great-grandchildren, Adam Ward, Trenton and Jason West, Emma and Kiboh Uchida.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, John Daniel, Frederick, and Virgil Phillips; and three sisters, Dorothy Glore, Wanda Patterson, and Martha Bird.
Friends of Audrey Pearl Ward, 93, of Washington, who died Thursday, November 9, 2006, will be received on Saturday, from 7 to 9 PM and Sunday from 12-noon to 3 and 6 to 8 PM, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 AM, the time of services, in the Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown road, Washington, Rev. Larry Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow in North Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to; Liberty United Methodist Church or Washington Alliance Church Building Fund, East Wylie Avenue, Washington.
