Barbara A. Weise of Prosperity died on October 25, 2006, in the Washington County Health Center.
She was born Barbara Ann Bricker on Feb. 19, 1925, in Miami, FL, daughter of Charles C. and Nettie Thomas Bricker.
She grew up in central Ohio and graduated from Marysville Ohio High School in 1943. She then entered the University of Cincinnati School of Nursing and graduated in 1946 as a registered nurse with a Bachelor's Degree.
Mrs. Weise started her nursing career as a Public Health Nurse in Dade County, FL. She returned to Ohio in 1949 and was the plant nurse at the General Electric Glass Plant in Logan, OH.
She will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of Concord Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Weise loved outdoor activities. She was an avid bird watcher and participated in the December bird counts, in the Cornell Feeder Watch, and helped gather data for the Breeding Bird Atlas of Pennsylvania.
She created a new apple orchard by budding old existing varieties onto new rootstalks.
On April 14, 1951 in Logan, OH, she married Robert L. Weise, who survives. Also surviving are four children: Charlotte Weise of Washington, Janet (Barry) Hood of Ligonier, PA, Stephen (Sandra) Weise of St. Louis, MO and Martha (Fernando) Peredo of Bethesda, MD; nine grandchildren: Zebulun (Leah), Lee, Caleb, and Matthew Hood; Jason, Nicole, and Chelsea Weise; and Xavier and Alicia Peredo; and one great-grandchild, Malakai Hood.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2006, with Pastor Jean Wright, CLP, officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church or to the National Audubon Society.
