Francesco (Frank) Policicchio, 83, of Hawthorne Woods, Washington, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, following a four-month illness. He was born November 7, 1922, in the Province of Cosenza, Italy, a son of DaGiuseppe and Elisabetta DeLuga Policicchio. Mr. Policicchio was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He had been a watchman at Washington County Courthouse and also had worked for five years at the Atlas Glass plant. He served from 1942 to 1944 in the Italian Army and was taken prisoner in Africa. Mr. Policicchio came to the U.S. in 1952. In 1954, he married Mariannina (Mary) DiNatale, who survives. Also surviving are a niece and three nephews from Italy. Deceased are two brothers, Settino and Pietro Policicchio.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, followed by entombment in St. James Mausoleum at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
