Anna Mae Allen, 84, of Washington, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2006, in Washington County Health Center following a six-year illness. Mrs. Allen was born June 17, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Jane Clemens Bell. On June 17, 1952, she married Alvin Allen, who died in 1980. She was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, William Allen of Silver Springs, Fla.; four daughters, Margaret Allen of Columbus, Ohio, and Helen Allen, Mary Schmidt and Nellie Allen, all of Washington; two brothers, John Albert Bell and Tony Lee Bell, both of Washington; four sisters, Betty Fisher and Eva Kelly of Washington, Christina Eva Valentine of East Palestine, Ohio, and Mary Wesley of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, William Allen Jr., April Allen, Ralph Allen and Sue Allen; and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Alvin Allen Jr.; two daughters, Dorris Ann Allen and Sally Allen; two brothers, Harry Bell and Charles Bell; and a sister, Helen Morris.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, September 17, at Salvation Army, 60 East Maiden Street, Washington, with Maj. Edward Taylor officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
