Sachiko Onda Myers, 73, of Southminster Place, Washington, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She had been ill for the past several months. She was born March 29, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, a daughter of Toshikatsu and Mineko Onda. Mrs. Myers had resided in Washington for the past forty-two years. For many years she was the manager at Lone Pine Market and also employed by Solomon Seafood. She enjoyed traveling abroad, karaoke singing, cooking and visiting with her family and friends. On September 13, 1955, she married Robert Anthony Myers, of Washington, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Donna Braman, of Alexandria, Virginia, Carol (George) Whirlow, of Washington, and Janet (Ronald) Schmitt, of Bridgeville; one son, Robert (Carla) Myers, of Kapolei, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Robert Myers, Evan Whirlow, Anna Jane Schmitt and Genevieve Schmitt; a sister, Tomiko Ogura, currently living in Tokyo, Japan; and two brothers, Yasuo (Hisako) Onda and Yuji (Ryoko) Onda, of Tokyo.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
