Freda Ealy VanKirk, 92, of Washington, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in Manor Care Nursing Home, McMurray. She had been since June.
She was born February 28, 1914, in East Finley Township, Greene County, a daughter of Harley and Arleigh Wise Ealy.
Mrs. VanKirk was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers and walking. She also enjoyed her cat, Princess.
Mrs. VanKirk was a member of Union Valley United Methodist Church.
Her first husband, Lee A. Ealy, died in 1965. On July 18, 1967, she married Daniel Wade VanKirk, who died April 19, 1988.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Helen Lindenmuth of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Alice (Bud) Taggart of Hickory; several step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; and several cousins, including her caretaker, Beverly Vahaly of Bentleyville.
Deceased is a sister, Adelle Ealy, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 22. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
