Albert Curtis McDaid, 74, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006, in his residence. He was born April 18, 1932, in Cross Creek, a son of Albert Herman and Ruth Logsdon McDaid. Mr. McDaid graduated from Hickory High School and attended four years of college. He was an electrician for Acme Service Company for more than 30 years. Mr. McDaid was Protestant. He was a member of LOOM #22, Independent Club, Slovak Club and Meadowland's Sportmen's Club, where he was financial secretary. Mr. McDaid enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His wife, Betty Taylor McDaid, survives. Also surviving are two sons, Barry McDaid and Charles Crouser, both of Washington; five daughters, Holly Sue Gentry and Diana Miller, both of Washington, Teri Ferris of Hickory, Penni McDaid and Jennifer Reihner, both of Washington; sixteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Deceased are two brothers, Robert Eugene McDaid, Sr. and Franklin McDaid.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 pm Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, September 5th, with Pastor Phillip Pace officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
