Jeffrey Alan Hepner

Jeffrey Alan Hepner, 60, of Washington, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, in his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born February 3, 1946, in Pittsburgh, a son of Webster and Helen McClain Hepner. He was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and Point Park College. Mr. Hepner served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era for six years and 14 days. He was proud of his service as a reactor/operator on the nuclear submarine, Skipjack. He was employed by Pennsylvania Department of Welfare for 17 years as an intake worker. Mr. Hepner enjoyed flying with his private pilot license and singing in Immaculate Conception Church choir. He was "a really nice guy." His happiest moments were spent with his family and taking trips with them to the Outer Banks, N.C. On January 31, 1981, he married Madria Masters, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Stephen, Patrick and Brendan Hepner, and daughter, Julia Hepner, all of Washington; and a sister, Denise Jonnet. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at noon Monday, October 2, with the Rev. Charles Puff officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the one's choice. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion and U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
