William R. “Bill” Doak, 78, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Washington, on May 18, 1939, a son of the late William A. and Caroline T. Durbin Doak. A 1958 graduate of Trinity High School, he was a dedicated member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. Bill retired from PennDot, following thirty-three years of service. A long-time dartball, and gardening enthusiast, Bill was a fun man, who enjoyed making everyone smile, especially when he dressed as Santa Claus for family Christmases. He will be missed by his longtime companion, his dog, Bandit. Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years, Betty L. Doak. Also surviving are his son, William “Robbie” Doak, Jr., and his daughter, Marie Markish; a sister, Beverly McCullough; as well as many loving in-laws; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom adored him. Friends will be received on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of services, in Abundant Life Baptist Church, 269 Cameron Rd., Washington, with Pastor George Garancosky, and Pastor Rick Brucker co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
