Fred Lee Ross, 81, of Washington, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Donnell House, following a lengthy battle with diabetes, and heart disease.
He was born on June 14, 1936, in Marianna, a son of the late William and Margaret Swihart Ross.
Mr. Ross was a fifty-year member of the First Baptist Church of Washington, serving on various boards and committees. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #776, in Washington.
He served in the United States Army for two years.
Mr. Ross worked at McGraw Edison, for several years, prior to establishing J&M Vending, Washington. He later retired, after working as the Maintenance Supervisor at Presbyterian Senior Care. He often spoke fondly of the residents/patients that he attended to, and assisted, in numerous ways.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Noah, had a passion for golf, animals, and watching all Pittsburgh sports teams.
Fred had been one of ten siblings.
On May 11, 1963, he married Sandra Boswell, who survives.
Also surviving, are a daughter, Sheryl (Mark) Wright; a grandson, Noah Wright, four sisters, Marian Miller, Jean Moore, Peggy (Del) Unrue, Darleen (James) Brown; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Ross.
Deceased are four brothers, Lawrence Ross, Lloyd Ross, William Ross, and Ronald Ross, a sister, Mary Matthews; and three brothers-in-law, Paul Miller, Herb Matthews, and Harold Moore.
A Memorial Service will be held, for all wishing to attend, in the First Baptist Church, 101 S. College St., Washington, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, with Reverend Steve Dunlap officiating.
At the deceased request, burial services will be private.
