Walter W. “Uncle Wally” Comer, 89, of Washington, died on Thursday, September 7, 2017, in the Donnell House. He had been in declining health since January. He was born on November 5, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Walter and Leona Howell Comer. Mr. Comer had attended Wylie Avenue School, and Trinity High School. When he was young, Mr. Comer had worked at Duncan Miller Glass. Later he worked as a construction worker with Local 1058, Pittsburgh, and also for Adam Eidemiller Construction Company. Walter was a member of the Polish Club, and loved listening to polka music. He also enjoyed cutting grass, tending to family graves, making up nicknames for family, and sitting on the porch, sharing stories with family and friends. On January 31, 1946, he entered the United States Army, and served in Germany, during World War II, in the Infantry, until his Honorable Discharge, as a Technician Fifth Grade, on July 13, 1947. For his service with C Troop 22nd Constabulary Squadron, he was awarded the Army of Occupation World War II Victory Medal. Surviving are his niece, and caregiver, Liz “The Boss” Comer, a brother, Chuckie Comer, of Washington; three sisters, Darlene Sharrow, of Harrison Township, MI, Joanne Davis, of Washington, and Lois (Ray) D’Emilio, of McMurray; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and close special friends, like family, and close friend, John. Deceased are a nephew, who was like a son, David Comer, two brothers, Robert and Carl Comer, two baby brothers, Adam Comer and Pete Angott, two sisters, Dorothy Comer, and Patty Miller, and a niece, Holli Sharrow. Friends will be received on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
