Loren Sims, 58 of Claysville, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at home. She was born November 19, 1958, in Butler the daughter of the late James Cypher and Janet Gully Cypher. Loren was a graduate of Butler High School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from California University of Pennsylvania. She was employed as a French teacher at Washington High School. Loren was a member of the recovery community for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, cats, teaching, tie-dying, rock and roll music, reading and going to the beach. She was a Pittsburgh Penguin fan. On February 14, 1997, she married James Sims, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James Dylan “J.D.” Sims of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Ashley Victoria (Chaz) Johnson of Washington; a brother, Steve Cypher of Butler; a grandchild, Keyonna Johnson and many close friends. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Reflections at 7:00 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
