Harold J. “June” Coffield, 90, of Washington, formerly of Claysville, died on August 24, 2017, in Presbyterian Senior Care.
He was born on August 24, 1927, in Moundsville, WV., a son of the late Albert F. and Charlotta May Gibbons Coffield.
Mr. Coffield had worked as a landscaper.
He was an avid gun collector, who enjoyed flea markets, and was a collector of “things.”
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from May 2, 1953, until his honorable discharge on May 2, 1956. During his time in the Army, he worked as a cook for Company M 16th Infantry Regiment. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Surviving are three children, Tony (Donna) Coffield, Cindy (Randy) Klinger, and Bill (Sharon) Coffield; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Coffield, and John Coffield; five sisters, Alva (the late Albert) Ealy, Dolores Shields, Sarah Shape, Charlotta (the late Paul) Wright, and Emma Jane ((Edward) Edgell; seven grandchildren, Samantha and Nikki Coffield, Michelle and Jennifer Klinger, and Alan, Stephen and Julie Coffield; a great grandchild, Lucas Bell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Clarence and Ralph Coffield.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on September 1, 2017, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Everyone attending services is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
Military Rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
