Robert "Bob" J. Thomas

Robert J. “Bob” Thomas Sr. 65 of Prosperity, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, following a five-year illness on Wednesday July 19, 2017. Bob donated his body to science in hopes to help COPD patients in finding a cure. He was born July 3, 1952 in Waynesburg, the son of the late Wayne and Dora Lulu Strawn Thomas. Bob was a car enthusiast and enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and cars. On December 15, 1973, he married Rebecca A. Allen, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert J. (Kimberly) Thomas Jr. of Ohiopyle; a daughter, Michelle L. (Matthew) Gaines of Burgettstown; three sisters, Nancy Bird of Claysville, Judy White of Pleasant Grove and Linda Jones of West Finley; eight grandchildren, Robert Lee (Taylor), Shi (Zach), Dylan (Cicily), Matthew, Kristian, Logan, Maddex and Kaleigh; two great grandchildren, Braxton and Aubree Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are his siblings, Wayne Thomas and Shirley Rosner. A memorial gathering will be held August 5, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A dinner will follow at Prosperity Park.
