Robert "Mac" C. Macdonald

Robert C. “Mac” MacDonald, 82, of Washington, formerly of Bethel Park, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the Donnell House. He was born on October 6, 1934, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Florence C. Clarke MacDonald. Mr. MacDonald had worked for Matthews International. Mac loved his children and grandchildren, and was proud of all of them. He was affectionately known as “Pappy” to his grandchildren. He enjoyed all Pittsburgh sports, including Pitt football. On July 25, 1969, he married Charlene G. Nieder, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Janet L. Preteroti, of Washington; two sons, Robert J. MacDonald, of Fredericksburg, VA, and Paul D. (Sarah) MacDonald, of Bethel Park; and three grandchildren, Keith C. MacDonald, of Fredericksburg, VA, Anessa D. Preteroti and Nicholas Mac Preteroti, both of Washington. Friends will be received on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut St., Washington, PA. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to John F. Kennedy Catholic School, 111 W. Spruce St., Washington, PA 15301.
