John "Jack" Richard Moore

June 10, 1934 — July 5, 2017

John “Jack” Richard Moore, 83 of Washington, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Washington County Health Center. He was born June 10, 1934 in Manifold, the son of the late Joseph R. and Leila Moore. Jack graduated from Washington High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Airforce from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Washington Steel after 28 years. Jack was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175, a life member of the Arms Club and the Independent Club, where he served as a director. On June 21, 1958, he married Norma Jean Rogers, who survives. They were married for 59 years. Also surviving are two sons, Larry R. (Lisa) Moore and James R. (Paula) Moore both of Washington; two daughters, Lea Ann (Brian) Berry and Sherie (Brian) Ward both of Washington; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Mitchell Moore, Lauren and Jamie Moore, Jaclyn (Cody) Ketchum, Brent Berry and Maci and Jackson Ward; a great grandchild, Kinzlea Ketchum. Deceased is a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) McCormick. Friends will be received Friday, July 7, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
