Debra Lynne Wagers

November 24, 1953 — June 24, 2017

Debra Lynne Wagers, 63, of Washington, passed away peacefully, June 24, 2017, at home, surrounded by family, following a ten-year fight with cancer. She was born in Killeen, TX, a daughter of the late Donald and Helena Hetrick Brown. Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Trinity High School. She was a hard worker, who worked many years on the Wagers’ family orchard, allowing her to dedicate time to raising her three children at home. Debbie worked twenty-six years at the Arms Club, even during her fight with cancer, until she retired in September, 2016. Mrs. Wagers was a life member, and trustee at the Arms Club, and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. Debbie enjoyed car cruises with friends, going to Pittsburgh Pirates games, vacationing with family and friends, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her dog, Pebbles, that her granddaughters gave her when she was recovering from her first bout with cancer, nine years ago. Mrs. Wagers was admired by everybody who knew of her courageous fight with cancer. Each time the cancer would take part of her, she would tell her family that it was just something else that we would learn to get through, giving her family the strength to keep living life to the fullest. On December 9, 1975, she married her husband of forty-two years, Randy Wagers. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Michelle (Kevin) MacKinney; two sons, Randy (Beth) Wagers, and Steven (Amy) Wagers; grandchildren, Myranda and Kourtney White, Max, Mara, and Addison Wagers, Kevin MacKinney, and Grayson Wallace; sisters, Vicki (Gary) Rush, and Tammy Johnson; half-sisters, Pamela Baer, Kimberly (John) Mellinger, Crystal (Art) Hutzell; half-brother, Mike (Missy) Brown; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents, are her stepfather, Harry Rasel, brother-in-law, Bill Johnson, and infant sister, Kimberly Brown. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kane, and his Oncology staff, all the medical personnel who helped her through her fight, and all of her family and friends that have supported her, and enhanced her quality of life. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 29, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 331 S. Main St., Washington, PA 15301.
