Norris Milton Vactor, 71 of Washington, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at home.
He was born January 18, 1946 in San Francisco, CA, the son of the late Harold Vactor Sr. and Frances Bates.
Norris graduated from Washington High School and attended Parsons College in Iowa on a full scholarship and Southern Illinois University. He also received several certificates from the Institute of Advanced Technology in Pittsburgh.
Norris was one of the key players for the Washington High School Football Team during the 1960s and was an incredible multi-sport athlete resulting in his induction in the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was also named All-Western Conference, All-WPIAL and Big 33 Honorable Mention.
Mr. Vactor worked at Highmark for 9 years as a computer programmer.
He had an active interest in chemistry, politics, history, investing. He was very independent and strong willed.
Surviving are a daughter, Theresa Downs of Annapolis, MD; three brothers, Harold Vactor Jr. of Washington, Ted (Stacey) Vactor of Wheaton, MD and Frank Vactor of Pittsburgh; a sister, Noel (Dennis) Wilkerson of Gahanna, OH; a granddaughter, Lauren Downs of Annapolis, MD; his devoted caregiver, Tiffany Walker; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
