Willard H. “Harold” Boswell, 91, of Washington, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in the Donnell House, following a brief illness. He was born on October 29, 1925, in Washington, a son of the late Minnie Malik. Harold entered the United States Navy, serving as a Torpedoman’s Mate Second Class, during World War II. For his service, he was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 9, 1946. He graduated from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul, Minnesota, and received his Doctor of Ministry, from the Denver Seminary. Mr. Boswell worked as a mail sorter for the United States Postal Service for forty years. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. Harold loved listening to classical music and was an avid reader. He enjoyed books on every topic, and from every genre, and often read them more than once. Harold was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Boswell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. On May 29, 1976, he married Rosemarie Jiacome, who survives. Also surviving two sisters, Mary Ellen (Harold) Smith, of Loganville, GA, and Janet Malik, of Washington; three nephews, Brian (Dawn) Malik, Scott Smith, and Deron Smith; and a niece, Diann (Scott) Sinclair. Deceased is a brother, Bob Malik. Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with Father George Chortos as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
