Joseph C. “Joey” Gazvoda, 31, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
He was born December 23, 1985, in Falls Church, Virginia, a son of Janet L. Chase Gazvoda of Triadelphia, West Virginia and the late Joseph A. Gazvoda, who passed away on June 13, 2017.
Mr. Gazvoda worked as a general contractor in construction.
He had heart of gold, and a generous spirit, and would take the shirt of his back for a stranger. Joey would find a friend no matter where he went.
Mr. Gazvoda was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering, riding dirt bikes, and swimming.
He loved his family and friends, and animals, especially dogs.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sisters, Theresa M. (Freddie) Simons of Triadelphia, West Virginia, Shannon Gazvoda (Brian Tohey) of Avella, and Julie Gazvoda of Tampa, Florida; grandmothers, Lois Gazvoda of Canonsburg and Lois Chase of Bethany Beach, Delaware; three nieces, Ellie Mae Simons, Abby Rae Simons and Kennedy Tohey, aunts and uncles, Robert Gazvoda of Canonsburg, Patty Lyn Gray of Houston, Lynn (the late John) Jones of Burke, Virginia, Susan O’Brien of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Nancy (John) Gentry of Charlottesville, Virginia, Marianne (David) Watkins of Aldie, Virginia, and Wendy (Paul) Covas of Leesburg, Virginia; Godmother, Michelle (Tom) Wentz of Maryland; and numerous cousins.
Deceased, in addition to his father, is an uncle, Thomas Chase.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 20th.
