Charles "Chuck" Derrow

Charles D. “Chuck” Derrow, 66 of Washington, passed away with his loving family by his side, following a lengthy illness, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at UPMC Mercy Hospital. He was born March 27, 1951 in Washington, the son of the late Charles D. Derrow Sr. and Margaret Crawford Derrow. Chuck was a 1969 graduate of Trinity High School and retired from Millcraft as a press operator in 2008. He was a magician for over 40 years and was inducted into the Order of Merlin by the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 2014 and was also a member of FCM/Tri State Magic Club. Chuck was a former softball coach with TWIST, coaching his daughter throughout her time on the team. He was the adopted Dad of his daughter’s sorority, Pi Beta Phi at Washington & Jefferson College. He played dartball with the Laboratory Church and played softball with the Post Office and Shop N Save teams. He regularly dressed up as Santa for friends and family, he also enjoyed radio control car racing. He was affiliated with Laboratory Presbyterian Church and was fondly known as the “Mayor of Pancake”. He enjoyed sitting on the porch and waving to neighbors as they passed by. He was also a member of the Arms Club in Washington. Chuck was a very proud Pappap and loved his two poodles A. J. and Lexi. On January 26, 1980 he married Jodi Hughes, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Stacy (Andy) Herrick of Charleston, WV; two brothers, Dave (Cathy) Derrow of Charleroi and Sam (Patty) Derrow of Washington; a sister, Christie (Dave) Mitchell of Washington; granddaughter, Abbey Herrick; best friend, Gary “Bubba” Johnson of Washington and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Donna Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Cemetery. A Broken Wand Ceremony will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Washington Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty-Four, PA 15330 or Laboratory Church Love Fund, 23 Manse St, Washington, PA 15301.
