Mickey Rae Amos, 61, of Washington, died on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in his home.
He was born on May 25, 1955, in Washington, a son of the late James Earl and Barbara Lang Amos.
A 1973 graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Houston.
During high school, he lived with his grandmother, Marie Lang, who is deceased. Following graduation, he moved to Florida, where he lived for years.
Mr. Amos owned Mickey’s Place, a beauty shop, and styled hair in various other locations. He also worked at the PA State Liquor Store for many years.
A member of the Arms and Keystone Clubs, Mickey enjoyed spending time there with family and friends. Every year, he loved traveling to the Outer Banks, NC., with his family, and his dog, Hines. Mickey was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
On October 18, 1986, he married Michelle A. Jeffers, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Amos, of Pittsburgh, and Corey Amos, of Washington; two brothers, Bill Amos, of Houston, and Roy Alderson, of Washington; a sister, Chiquita Pearson, of Washington; a brother-in-law, Art Jeffers, of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Jeffers, of Washington, and Denise (Tracey) Spinnenweber, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his parents, and grandmother, Marie Lang.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017, with Rev. Emily Miller officiating.
