Marjorie L. Southern

Marjorie L. Southern, 90 of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Donnell House following a brief illness. She was born March 19, 1927, in New Cumberland, WV, the daughter of the late Loyd A. and Anna E. Weber Hendershot. Marjorie graduated in 1945 from New Cumberland High School and worked at the stenographic department at Weirton Steel Corporation until she got married. . She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. There were many loves of Marjorie’s long happy 90 years. She enjoyed baking, watching her birds and flowers, vacations and music. She also enjoyed going to Dollywood and spending time with her kids, grand kids and great grandchildren. She loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and going to PNC Park to watch them play. On September 9, 1961, she married James A. Southern Sr., who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James A. (the late Terry) of Arden and Jackie R. (Allena) Southern of Cadiz, OH; a daughter, Cynthia A. Southern of Bridgeville; fourteen grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sister in law, Esmeralda Hendershot a special aunt, Andrea and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Stevie J. Southern; a sister, June Hendershot; a granddaughter, Kelly Jean Southern; brother, Loyd A. Hendershot. Friends will be received Friday, March 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Burial is private.
