Russell William Elliott Jr., 79 of Washington, died Monday, March 13, 2017, at home, following a two-year illness.
He was born July 28, 1937 in West Alexander the son of the late Russell W. Elliott Sr. and Dessie K. Curry Elliott.
Russell served with the National Guard for four years and retired from D.L. Smith as an industrial contractor and steel painter. He also was a laborer for L. W. Miller.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades.
Russell enjoyed woodworking and watching Pittsburgh Sports. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his spouse, Ruth Kelley; a son, John (Tiffany) Kelley of Somerset; five sisters, Dorothy Penrod Mings of Alachua, FL, Eliza “Betty” Janoski of Pompano Beach, FL, Mildred Black of Wheeling, WV, Shirley (Ralph) Ealy of Claysville, Zelma Armstrong of Washington; five grandchildren, Bryan, Kyle and Evan McWreath, Caitlin and Liam Kelley; special brother in law, Jimmy and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Linda Kelley McWreath; a sister, Mary Kathryn Clark and a brother, Melvin Elliott.
Friends will be received Friday, March 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery.
