Geneva Carter Drain Richardson, 80 of Washington, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 12, 2017.
She was born June 8, 1936 in Paducah, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Oscar Carter Sr. and Estella M. Williams Carter Fletcher.
Mrs. Richardson was an active member of the Nazareth Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she served on the Usher Board, Deaconess Board, Choir and volunteered for various church activities.
She was a member of the NAACP and former Highland Erie Committee.
Geneva enjoyed church, bingo, crocheting, quilting and spending time with her family and friends. She would always say “I love you and don’t forget it.”
Mrs. Richardson was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
On July 11, 1962, she married her beloved husband, Rev. Henry Clay Richardson, who is deceased. Together they owned and worked with horses for 34 years.
Surviving are two sons, Charles (Joyce) Drain of Georgia, Larry Drain of Michigan, a daughter, Christine Carruthers of Pennsylvania; a brother, Charles Bradshaw of Indiana; four sisters, Joanne Taylor of Pennsylvania, Dianne Fields, Sandra Jackson and Earnestine Everett, all of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by, a son, James Carruthers Jr.; five sisters and five brothers.
Friends will be received Saturday, March 18, 2017 from noon to 1:00 p.m. the time of the Home Going Celebration at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
