Mary Ann Dalton Ashmore, 91, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in Transitions Health Care, following an eight-year battle with a rare disease known as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She was born October 11, 1925, in Blaine Township, a daughter of William Dalton and Laura Dutton Dalton. Mrs. Ashmore graduated from Trinity High School. She worked for Trinity School District for more than 20 years, first in food service, then as a secretary. Mrs. Ashmore was a member of Avery United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. On her 21st birthday, October 11, 1946, she married Merlin Ashmore, who died July 8, 2008. Surviving are a son, Michael Merlin (Deborah) Ashmore; two daughters, Linda Ilene (Richard) Pakisz and Phyllis Elaine (Stan) Rush, all of Washington; a sister, Lois Jean Marrazzo of Orland, California; three grandchildren, Mandy (Greg) Boggs, Michelle Ankrom (David Woodhouse) and Jennifer (Todd) Zaken; and five great-grandchildren, Michael and Maylea Ankrom, Jarrett Kohn, and Camden and Colin Zaken. Deceased is a brother, Charles Dalton. Friends will be received from 4 till 8 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 24th, with Rev. Erik Hoeke officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
