Robert Wayne Crowley, 88, of Hickory, died on Friday, February 17, 2017, in the Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 4, 1928, in Clarksville, AR, a son of the late Chester Robert and Mary Myrtle Kendall Crowley.
Mr. Crowley graduated in 1946 from Mt. Pleasant Vocational High School.
Robert worked for twenty-nine years at J&L Steel, as a mechanical engineer. He later worked as a CAD operator, using computer-aided design systems to prepare drawings and blueprints. He was completely self-taught in this field.
He was a member of Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, the Hickory Lyons Club, and the Cecil American Legion.
Robert had many hobbies, including cameras, photography, computers, building computers, electronics, and home building. He even built his own home. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
On November 14, 1953, he married Florence Manni, who died on December 11, 2008.
Surviving are four sons, Robert (Cindy) Crowley, Jr., of Medina, OH, Daniel (Noreen) Crowley, Sr., of Millis, MA, Terry Crowley, Sr., of Hickory, and Richard (Ginger) Crowley, of Hickory; a daughter, Kelly (Don) Liggett, of Hickory; a sister, Rebecca Sue Lucoski, of Florida; sixteen grandchildren, Shannon (David) Franks, Melissa (Sam) Sawmiller, Daniel (Tammy) Crowley, Jr., Katie (Chris) Romig, Colleen (John) Warne, Kym Shoop, Kelly (Jamie) Meklemburg, Terry Crowley, Jr., Andrew Crowley, Jordan Crowley, Amanda (Mike) Frank, Brent Liggett, Luke Liggett, Zak Crowley, Caleb Crowley, and Corina Crowley; and eleven great-grandchildren, Elspeth and Wyatt Franks, Moira Sawmiller, Danny and Joey Crowley, Sarah Romig, Valerie Warne, Nolan Foust, Sophia and Jimmy Meklemburg, and Elijah Frank.
Deceased are two brothers, Ronald and Reginald Crowley, and a sister, Betty Jo Salansky.
Friends will be received on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
