Richard Albert Cario

Richard A. “Dick” Cario, 90, of Canonsburg, formerly of Washington, died on Friday, February 17, 2017, in the Washington Hospital. He was born on January 21, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Fred and Josephine Biondo Cario. Mr. Cario attended Washington High School. After working at Hazel Atlas for several years, he began working at Pella Window and Gunton Corporation, where he worked for over thirty years, until his retirement as General Manager in 1990. He then worked for twelve years as the Washington County Supervisor of Community Services, until his retirement. Mr. Cario was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he was very active with the Sports Booster Club. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and woodworking. On September 5, 1948, he married Nancy Jean Waugh, who died on July 6, 1997. Surviving are his longtime companion, Loré B. Roskowski; three sons, Albert R. (Wanda) Cario, of Canonsburg, Fred T. (Gina) Cario, of Washington, and Joseph M. (Laurie) Cario, of Natrona Heights; two daughters, Cathleen L. (Dean) Kenefick, and Gina M. (Larry) Anderson, both of Washington; grandchildren, Richard “Rick” Cario, Anthony “Tony” Cario, Amanda Coffman, Lyndsay Evans, Lauren Tilden, Steven Mercurio, Connor Cario, Dean Kenefick, Jr., Cammy Feriozzi, Garek Anderson, Haven Anderson, and Drake Anderson; nineteen Great-Grandchildren, and three nephews, Fred and Bill Bakaitis, and Larry Cario. Deceased are two brothers, Mariano “Pete” Cario and Johnny Cario, a sister, Mary Bakaitis, and a sister, Marie, who died as an infant. Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Free Care Fund, One Children's Hospital Drive Central Plant, Floor 3; 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
