Bernice L. Loughman, 85, of Washington, was surrounded by angels and taken home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017, following complications of a stroke. She was born November 26, 1931, in Greene County, a daughter of the late James and Lizzie Crouse. For 35 years, she worked for the McGuffey School District, retiring in 2005, as “The Lunch Lady” at Joe Walker Elementary School. She loved working with the children as that carried over to her home life as well enjoying her grandchildren and most recently her great-grandchildren. On June 26, 1954, she married Claud Loughman, who passed on July 1, 1992, after 38 years of loving marriage. Mrs. Loughman was a long-time member of Union Valley United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship and the feeling of being with her Lord. Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Loughman of Washington and Lisa Loughman of Washington; one son, Gary (Terry) Loughman of West Alexander; two granddaughters, Amie Loughman (Troy Grayson) of Washington and Kayla (Randy) Brautigan of Moundsville, West Virginia; a grandson, Dan Loughman of West Alexander; four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Aaliyah Grayson and Teagan and Sawyer Brautigan. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty (Rollie) Bristor and Erma (Larry) Anderson, both of Waynesburg; two brothers, Tom (Ruth) Crouse of Prosperity and Lawrence Crouse of Graysville; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a brother, George Crouse; a sister-in-law, Donna Crouse (wife of Lawrence); and a nephew, Larry Crouse. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14th, with Rev. Scott Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
