Robert L Carter

Robert L. Carter, 81, of Avella, died Monday, February 6, 2017, in his home.   He was born December 30, 1935, in Washington, a son of the late Clarence and Bernice Bell Carter.   Mr. Carter graduated from Hickory High School and worked as a truck driver and farmer.  He enjoyed working in his yard and operating outdoor equipment.   Mr. Carter was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder.  He dedicated his life to his family and his church by serving others.   On December 14, 1991, he married Linda Rea, who survives.   Also surviving are three sons, Robert (Wanda) Carter of McDonald, Terry L. Carter of San Diego, California and Michael (Tonya) Cox of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; a daughter, Michelle (Justin Sr.) Danna of Ridgefield, New Jersey; a brother, Larry G. (Carol) Carter of Avella; a sister, Gayle Hathaway of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Jacob (Natalie) Carter of Hickory, Devan Cox and Logan Cox, both of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, Justin Danna Jr. and Maximus Danna, both of Ridgefield, New Jersey; and a great-grandchild, Gabrielle Carter of Hickory.   Deceased is a brother, Eden Carter.   Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.  Additional visitation will be held from 10 till 11 a.m., the time of service, on Friday, February 10th, in Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with Rev. R. Douglas Reinard officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.    Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory UEP Church Memorial Fund, 210 Main Street, Hickory, PA 15340.
