Virginia Mae Wherry, 94, of Washington, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in the Donnell House.
She was born on June 30, 1922, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late James Kerr and Grace Darling Donaldson Morrison.
A 1941 graduate of Cecil High School, she was a fifty-year member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.
Virginia enjoyed puzzles, word search, painting ceramics, and watching college football. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and taking cruises.
On December 28, 1943, she married James Allen Wherry, Sr., who died on May 4, 2002.
Surviving are three sons, James Allen (Robin) Wherry, Jr., of Garards Fort, PA, Robert Lee (Roxane) Wherry, Paul Reed (Sally) Wherry, of Canonsburg; two daughters, Linda Ann Wherry, of Washington, and Gloria Jean (Regis) Penderville, of Houston; a sister, Dorothy M. (Dan) Erbach, of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, Brenda Ann Penderville, John Brian (Kalyn) Penderville, Pamela Joyce (Dan) Greene, Jennifer Nicole (Alex) Ford, and Paul Reed Wherry, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Makenna Marie Penderville, Megan Bree Penderville, and Abigail Grace Greene; and several nephews and cousins.
Deceased is a sister, Mildred M. Hess.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, with Rev. Ross Pryor officiating.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
