Thomas "Sonny" Alrutz

Thomas E. “Sonny” Alrutz, 76 of Washington, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Strabane Woods in Washington. He was born April 29, 1940, in Washington, the son of the late Thomas Leon and Roberta “Birdie” Cecil Briggs Alrutz Sonny was a graduate of Hickory High School. He worked at Green Valley Packing as a meat cutter, Joy Manufacturing and retired from Overnight Trucking. Sonny loved baseball and was a huge Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Wild Things fan. He married Sallie Leola Carpenter, who died April 30, 2014. Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Janis) Alrutz Jr. of Washington, Richard Alrutz of San Angelo, TX; a daughter Michelle (Jeff) Laskowski of Canonsburg; a stepson, Tracy Magnelli of Washington; two grandchildren, Seth Alrutz of Canonsburg and Calli Laskowski of Canonsburg. Friends will be received Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, where services will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Powell officiating. Burial is private at Mt. Prospect Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers Memorial Donations can be made to the Washington County Humane Society, P.O.
