John M. Taggart, 68 of Washington, died unexpectedly of a Heart Attack, Monday January 30, 2017.
He was born August 10, 1948 in Washington, the son of Helen Mitchell Taggart of Ruff Creek and the late James Alexander Taggart of Avella.
John was a 1966 graduate of Avella High School, had attended Taylor University and was also a 1971 graduate of Waynesburg University.
He was the owner of Taggart,Mitchell and Assoc., PC, CPA firm.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served from 1969 to 1975 and was honorably discharged.
John was an active member of the Bible Chapel. He had a very strong love for God, his wife and family.
He has served as a board member of the YMCA, Canonsburg Hospital, U.C. P., now known as Pathways, Youth for Christ, Central Christian Academy, Elmhurst Swim Club, and was also a member of Nemacolin Country Club. He was formerly a member Central Assembly of God, where he also taught Sunday School, helped the with the choir and played trombone during worship.
John looked forward to family vacations at the shore and enjoyed taking photos of his grandchildren.
On March 8, 1969, he married Amy Jones, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Chad (Heidi) Taggart of Clarksville, two daughters, Stephanie (Matt) Jardine of Canonsburg, Courtney (David) Reichley of Richmond, KY; three brothers, James (Judy) Taggart of Severn, MD, Joe (Barb) Taggart of Avella, Jerry (Sis) Taggart of Somerset; a sister, Jayne Silfee of McMurray; brother in law, Richard (Sandy) Jones; sister in law, Ruth Ann Jones. He has ten grandchildren, Ryan, Madeline, Connor, Karina, Selah, Mateo, Brennan, Logan, Eli and Millie.
Deceased in addition to his father are two brother in laws, Doc K. and David L. Jones; in laws, Floyd P. and Ruth B. Jones.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Life Church in Washington. Private Burial will follow at Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
