Esther Jean Bigler Theakston, 97, of Washington, died Friday, January 20, 2017, in her home.
She was born November 16, 1919, in West Bethlehem Township, a daughter of Orris Perry Bigler and Helen Mae Schrontz Bigler.
Mrs. Theakston graduated from Trinity High School. A homemaker, she was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed music, crocheting, sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Theakston was a member of First Christian Church.
On November 18, 1939, she married Arthur Wayne Theakston, who died February 3, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy J. (Robert) Folino of Lawrence and Wendy B. (Richard Michael) Cahill of Tustin, California; two brothers, Carl Bigler of Amity and Gary (Roseann) Bigler of Washington; two sisters, Ida McGuane of Morgantown, West Virginia and Mary Franks of Cortland, Ohio; grandchildren, Lea Anne Theakston, Keith Theakston, Christopher Leneham, Megan Mickschl, Brandy Sanders, Christian (Angela) Caldwell, Michael Cahill, Timothy Cahill, Shannon Reynolds, Karen Walters, Robert Folino, Melissa Sequete, and Ryan Folino; great-grandchildren, Jessica Rees, Zachary Losco, Jacob Losco, Katrina Losco, Lauryn Mickschl, Allyson Mickschl, Sterling Kelly, Isaac Caldwell, and Magnolia Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are a son, Thomas W. Theakston; a great-grandson, Jonah Michael Kelly; siblings, Lydia Wonsettler, Albert Bigler, Edith Bigler, Marjorie Faye Riggle, Rita Murphy, and William Bigler.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 26th, with Rev. Michael Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
