Mary Louise Romano

Mary Louise Romano, 95 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. She died peacefully while surrounded by members of her immediate family. Mary lived most of her life in Washington, PA until she moved to New Jersey in 2009, residing in Morristown, NJ at the time of her death. She was born on April 21, 1921, the daughter of late Joseph and Mary Desmond. Mary was primarily a homemaker and volunteer, but worked for a number of years at Tygart Valley Glassworks and as a caterer and baker. She was a kindred spirit, whose warmth and selflessness were always on display, and she was completely dedicated to her family. In 1940 she married Joseph Romano who preceded her in death in December 2000. Mary is survived by her daughter Joanne Romano (Joseph) Plany, of Florham Park, NJ; her son Tracy (Maureen) Romano, of Ellicott City, MD; 5 grandchildren, Joseph, Susan, Aaron, Alison, Philip; 4 great grandchildren, Jadyn, Annaliese, Chase, Hayden, a brother Joseph Desmond, and a sister Thelma DeRose, both of Washington, PA. Deceased are 2 sisters, Katherine Jones, Rose Ferry, and 4 brothers, Louis, Sam, Tony, and Pete. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 22 from 1 to 5 pm., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where a Memorial Service will be held Monday January 23, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
