J. Everett Kelley

June 17, 1915 — January 16, 2017

J. Everett Kelley, 101, of Washington, died Monday, January 16, 2017, in his home.   He was born June 17, 1915, a son of James and Mabel Roupe Kelley.   Mr. Kelley worked at Jessop Steel for 38 years, retiring as a powerhouse engineer.   He enjoyed hunting, especially turtle hunting, fishing, and chopping wood.   Mr. Kelley was a member of Friendship Community Church.   On June 1, 1937, he married Addie Evalyn White, who died December 26, 2006.   Surviving are five sons, James E. (Shirley) Kelley, Jr., of Avella, Edward (Gerry) Kelley of Claysville, William Kelley of Washington, Richard “Ace” Kelley of Washington, and Alex (Bonnie) Kelley of Elbington, Georgia; five daughters, Mabel Isabelle Garber of Washington, Louise King of Avella, Nancy (John) Anderson of Stafford, Virginia, Evalyn (Robert) Sibert of Montgomery, Alabama, and Mary Ellen (Don) Oatman of Washington; a brother, David Kelley; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.   Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kelley; a son-in-law, James King; six brothers, George, Walter, Thomas, Samuel, Edward and John; and 3 grandchildren.   Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21st, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating.  Burial will follow in North Buffalo Church Cemetery.
