Joseph D. Comfort, Sr., 82, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, in the Emergency Department of The Washington Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1934, in Washington, a son of the late Frank and Carmella Greco Comfort.
Mr. Comfort retired in 1994, from Jessop Steel/Allegheny Ludlum, where he had worked as a bricklayer.
He was a member and past officer and trustee of the Alpine Club.
He enjoyed spending with his family and his friends at the Alpine Club.
On January 7, 1956, he married Shirley Dague, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Randy (Melissa) Comfort and Joseph D. (Tracey) Comfort, Jr., both of Washington; two daughters, Debra (Dave) Elias of Washington and Leslie (Bobby) Hollandsworth of Willis, Virginia; two brothers, Angelo (Jeannie) Comfort and David Comfort, both of Washington; grandchildren, Randall B. (Brandy) Comfort, Mitch Neece, Brad Neece, Brennan Comfort, Cydney Comfort and Dennis (Amanda) Pierson; greatgrandchildren, Mason Comfort, Keeley Grandon, Hunter Pierson, Jada Horner and Brayden Horner; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Frank Comfort.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14th.
