Clifford A. Higgins, 91, of Washington, died Sunday, January 8, 2017, in the Donnell House. He was born May 10, 1925, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph A. Higgins and Viola Woodruff Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He spent 14 months on land and the same amount of time at sea. A coal miner, he retired from Bethlehem Collieries in 1989. Mr. Higgins was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and kept the seventh-day Sabbath. Surviving is his wife, Mary Phyliss Higgins. Also surviving are seven children, Judith Higgins, Tamora Syphrett, Clifford Higgins II, Marsha Higgins, Wilburn (Maureen) Higgins, Keven (Anita) Higgins and Melanye (Victor R.) Sariñana; a sister, Elizabeth C. “Betty” Moore; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. All services are private and have been entrusted to William G.
