Ann Marie Perry Vankirk, 94, of Washington passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Presbyterian SeniorCare, surrounded by her son, daughter, grandson and nieces and nephews.
Ann was born March 9, 1922, in Gilmer County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale Perry and Rose Nicastro Perry. Ann was the last-surviving member of her family.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, John Perry and Samuel Perry, and her sisters, Josephine Stefanizzi, Theresa Belcastro, Mary Merlo, Barbara Sieracki, Angeline Oliverio, and Jennie Schultz.
On December 8, 1952, Ann married David G. (Monk) Vankirk, who passed away March 20, 1975. She is survived by her son, William E. (Fuzzy) Vankirk (Wife Gabrielle) of Delray, Florida, and Jody L. Francis (Husband Richard J. Francis, deceased) of Avella, Pennsylvania, her beloved grandson, David Jason Vankirk (Wife Rachel) of Avella, Pennsylvania, and granddaughter Brianna Steadman, of Hamptonville, North Carolina. “Aunt Annie” leaves many loving nieces and nephews, with joyful fondness for the McConnell children.
Before her marriage, Ann was employed as an inspector at Hazel-Atlas Glass Company and was a group leader at RCA. Ann took much pride in her homemaking as a wonderful baker and cook with a spotless house. She had a place in her heart for all little children and made each one feel special.
Friends will be received from 2 till 8 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 13th, with Rev. Justin Amsler officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
