Vernon Eugene Hunt, 92, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in the Washington Hospital. He was born July 28, 1924, in Langeloth, a son of Harry and Thelma Kirkpatrick Hunt. Mr. Hunt retired from Brockway Glass where he had been a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church and a life member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. During World War II, Mr. Hunt served in the Navy aboard the USS Curtis. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with two stars. His wife, Mary C. Hunt, passed away on November 12, 2006. Also deceased is a brother, Douglas Hunt. Surviving are two sons, Vernon E. Hunt, Jr. and David M. Hunt, both of Evansville, Indiana; two daughters, Brenda Padgett of Evansville, Indiana and Karen Staley of Arizona; a stepson, James E. (Laura) Ashmore of Avella; a brother, Raymond Hunt of Arizona; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment in Washington Cemetery will be private. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairhill Manor Church, 351 Montgomery Avenue, Washington PA 15301.
