Shirley Jean Mcdowell

Shirley Jean Evans McDowell, 70, of Lawrence, KS, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. She was born on February 23, 1946, in Washington, a daughter of the late Jesse Howard Evans and Mary Virginia Ward Evans. Shirley was a graduate of Washington High School. Shirley worked in the Blood Bank in Washington for several years, after which, she and her husband moved to Ohio, where they lived for forty years, before moving to Lawrence, KS. She had many friends, and loved everyone, including her dogs and cats. Mrs. McDowell was a strong, caring, generous, fun-loving, family-oriented, wonderful woman, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. We all love and miss her. On May 28, 1971, in Washington, she married William Robert McDowell, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Brent (fiancée, Veronica Villar) McDowell, of Las Vegas, NV, and Ryan (Stephanie Vellucci) McDowell, of Lawrence, KS; and granddaughter, Zoe Ondas; and twin grandchildren on the way. Deceased is a sister, Peggy Sobolosky. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
