Sarah Ann Hixenbaugh, 85, of Avella, died Friday, December 30, 2016, in the Washington Hospital. She was born November 18, 1931, in Greene County, a daughter of Raymond Hewitt and Bertha Crile Hewitt. Mrs. Hixenbaugh graduated from Trinity High School and attended Sterling College. She was an avid Steelers fan. A homemaker, she baked great pies and enjoyed traveling, crocheting, gardening and solving jigsaw puzzles. Mrs. Hixenbaugh was a Jehovah’s Witness. On December 2, 1954, she married Wayne Hixenbaugh, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Beth Hixenbaugh of Avella and Kay Barnhart (Bruce Myers) of Washington; a brother, Leo Hewitt of Washington; a sister, Gail (Elmer) Doman of Washington; nine grandchildren, Ben, Mark, Ryan and Andrew Drilak, Aimee and Daniel Barker, Ashley, Tyler, and Scott Myers; six great grandchildren, Taryne, Kiera and Aiden Drilak, Chloe and Mia Micelli and Zeke Malinosky; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three daughters, Ruby Drilak, Diana Barker and Cassandra Hixenbaugh; a brother, Orin Hewitt; and six sisters, Opal Hewitt, Edna Puskarich, Esther Lane, Cinderella Helbig, June Haught and Louise Barnhart. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 4th
