Roy L. Thompson, Sr., 73, of Washington, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, in his home.
He was born on April 5, 1943, in Washington, a son of the late William Leroy and Belle Marie Hamilton Thompson.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Korea.
In 2006, he retired from Overnight Transportation Trucking.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, the Washington VFW, and the Independent Club.
He loved hunting, and enjoyed watching television.
On March 19, 2000, he married Patricia O. Lutes, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Roy L. (Kristen) Thompson, Jr., of Murrysville; two stepsons, David (Marisa) Lutes, of Washington, and Bill Redington, of Maryland’ and four grandchildren, Allison Redington, David Lutes, II, Finn Thompson and Maggie Thompson.
Deceased are a sister, Alice Marie Ward, and his best friend, Donnie Patterson.
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
Military Rites will be accorded at the funeral home by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
