Carolyn “Dale” Philp, 84, of Washington, died Monday, December 5, 2016, in her home.
She was born February 9, 1932, in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Kersey and Carolyn Mentzer Dever.
A graduate of Washington High School, Mrs. Philp graduated from LPN school in Greene County and worked in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer for the Salvation Army. Mrs. Philp enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing the piano, singing, and performing with the community theater.
On September 18, 1953, she married James Funk, who died in 1995.
Her second husband, Charles Philp, died in 2015.
Surviving are three sons, J. Michael Funk of Verona, Mark (Cheryl) Funk of Cranberry and Dan Funk of Washington; two daughters, Linda (Jeff) Paxton of Houston and Cathi (Dennis) Caleffie of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Funk of Washington; and a sister, Jane Stoner of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren;
Deceased are two brothers, Dan Dever and James Dever; and a grandson, Steven Caleffie.
Friends will be received Thursday, December 15th from 6 till 8 p.m., and Friday, December 16th from 11 a.m. till noon, the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Inurnment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
