Betty Louise Huggins

Betty Louise Huggins, 90, of East Washington, died Friday, December 2, 2016 at Transitions Healthcare. She was born October 4, 1926, in Washington, the daughter of the late John Borkowski and Mary Tabazewski Borkowski. Betty was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and worked in retail sales at Thompson Hardware and Langs. She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was so happy she got to meet her first great granddaughter this year. She also enjoyed playing all kinds of card games. On September 23, 1945 at Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, she married Louis Huggins, who died December 29, 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Rodd of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Lancaster, PA; a sister, Viola Hoard of Uxbridge, MA; Grandchildren, Christopher Michael Rodd of San Diego, CA, Elizabeth Anne Rodd of New York, NY, Jessica Rae (Matthew) Dudik and Sara Huggins of Washington; great grandchild, Katherine Rae Dudik; special daughter in law, Debbie Huggins; special niece, Norma Lee Holmes. Deceased are a son, Jeffrey Huggins, who died May 13, 1998; a sister, Sophie Glass, two brothers, William and Ben Borkowski. A Memorial Gathering will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 10 to noon, the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial is private. Many nurses have provided wonderful care for Betty over the past few years. Memorials may be made to the Washington Health System, School of Nursing, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
