John G. Lenco, 96 of Washington, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Canonsburg Hospital.
He was born February 22, 1920 in Van Voorhes, the son of the late John C. Lenco and Anna Blasko Lenco.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Island Liberation Ribbon.
He worked at McGraw-Edison as a draftsman.
John was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175, Claysville Sportsmen’s Club and Canton Township Fire Department.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman and enjoyed boating, gardening, camping and loved his bird dogs.
On October 20,1951, he married Margaret “Peggy” Adams, who died September 13, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, John D. (Jane) Lenco of Washington, Mark Lenco of Washington; a daughter, Catherine Lenco of Washington; a brother, Thomas (Cynthia) Lenco of Canonsburg; four sisters, Irene Knodle of Washington, Christine Freeman of Mississippi, Madelyn Ault of Sterling, VA and Donna Lenco of WV; two granddaughters, Jackie (A.J.) Kerr of Washington and Adrienne (Justin) Lindsay of Prosperity; his dogs, Bucky and Benney; several nieces and nepews.
Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are his siblings, Anna Routi, Florence Lander, William Lenco and Raymond Lenco.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm and Friday, November 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
