Bonnie G. Rankin, 71 of Washington, died Thursday, October 20, 2016 at home. She was born June 7, 1945, in Washington, the daughter of the late Craven and Lola M. Gorby Sampson Sr. Bonnie was a graduate of Trinity High School and worked at Brockway Glass and then at Shop N Save in the Deli, from where she retired in 2010. She loved Bingo, her grandchildren and spending time with family. On September 9, 1978 she married James V. “Red” Rankin, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, James C. (Kristy) Rankin of Avella, James V. (Mandoline) Rankin II of Scenery Hill and John Wayne Sampson of Washington; a sister, Shirley (Oscar) Iams of Washington; six grandchildren, Alexia Pirillo, Alivia Rankin, Abaigael Rankin, Vance Rankin, Vanessa Rankin and Vivian Rankin; several nieces and nephews. Deceased are six siblings, John L. Sampson, Reva Ruffalo, Patty Roupe, Harry Sampson, Wayne Sampson and Craven Sampson Jr. Friends will be received Sunday, October 23, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
