Cheryl "Cherie" Reda

August 21, 1946 — October 8, 2016

Cheryl Lynn “Cherie” Nicholas Reda of Washington, passed away October 8, 2016, in Donnell House, following a two-year illness.   She was born August 21, 1946, in Canonsburg Hospital and was baptized in the former Central Presbyterian Church in Canonsburg.  She was the daughter of the late Shirley Wesner Nicholas Presto and Nick Nicholas.  Her step-father was the late Joseph Presto of Washington.   Cheryl attended Hawthorne Grade School and Junior High School in Canonsburg and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1964.   During her senior year in high school she worked as a clerk in the former G. C. Murphy store and upon graduation began working at the former Washington Credit Bureau.  She became a legal secretary with the law firm of Goldfarb and Goldfarb (later Goldfarb and Posner) and was employed there for 32 years.  She later became a legal secretary to Mr. Gaylord Greenlee at the Greenlee Derrico Posa Law Firm and worked there while her health permitted.   Her employers and co-workers showed great kindness and consideration to her during her illness, of which she was very appreciative.   Cheryl was an avid reader, loved to cook and loved Cobachard perfume.  Times spent with her friends, whether visiting in their homes and going to lunch or dinner, were always special to her and these dear ladies know who they are.  Cheryl enjoyed collecting art glass and Royal Doulton figurines, which she displayed throughout her home.   Showing great courage and dignity during her illness, she always kept the faith, and for this her family is forever grateful.   Cheryl is survived by her sister, Gretchen Nicholas Brehl and special brother-in-law, Joseph G. Brehl of Washington; her maternal aunt, Norma Wesner Colucci (Virgil); and cousins, Chriss (Lorelei) Colucci, Barbara Collom and David (Marion) Colucci.   In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenneth M. and Esther Cowden Wesner, Mike and Flora Pastedenos Nicholas (Hanzinicholas), and her former husband, Louis J. Reda.   Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 11th.  Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Hospice of Washington, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
