John Edward Manion Jr.

John Edward Manion, 83 of Washington, died Saturday, August, 20, 2016 at the Washington County Health Center, where he had been for short-term rehabilitation. He was born May 11, 1933 in Washington, the son of the late John Edward Manion Sr. and Veronica Marie Seubert Manion. John was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He was employed at National Annealing Box Co. for 29 years as a radiographer, where he x-rayed atomic sub parts. John was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and attended both Immaculate Conception and St. Hilary for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and was a 4th degree Knight and was previously the Grand Knight and a member of the Color Corp. He also was a member of the Keystone Club and the Alpine Club. On July 18, 1959 he married Mary Ann McMurray, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Edward (Melissa) Manion III of Avon Lakes, OH; three daughters, Diane (Don) Snoke of Washington, Beth Manion of Charlotte, NC, Lisa (John) Antonelli of Washington; a sister, Veronica (Harry “Hezzy”) Morgan of Washington; five grandchildren, John F. Antonelli, Alisia Antonelli, Amanda Jolliffe, Jennifer Snoke, Jack Henry Manion; three great grandchildren, Parker Jennings, Carter Jennings and Gemma Antonelli. Friends will be received Monday, August 22, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. The Knights will recite the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
